How to size a solar system for your Nigerian home
10 Jul 2026 · Tunde Bello
Sizing a solar system does not have to be complicated. Start with a simple question: what do you want to keep running when the grid is down, and for how long each day?
List your essentials first: lights, fans, phone charging, a TV, and maybe a fridge. Note roughly how many watts each uses and how many hours a day you run it. Add those up to get your daily energy need in watt-hours.
From there, three numbers matter. Your inverter must be large enough to handle everything switched on at once. Your battery must store enough energy for the hours you want backup. Your panels must generate enough during the day to refill the battery.
The good news is you do not have to do this alone. Tell us what you want to power and for how long, and we will size a matched system, so you get dependable backup without paying for capacity you will never use.
